October 2009

Ptown Scooters congratulates the winners of the 2009 PNWSRA Race Season!!!

2009 was our shop's first season to participate in local scooter racing. It was a great experience for everyone and we scraped a few knuckles & knees on & off the track. We had a great time seeing what some 20 to 30 year old scooters can do out on the tarmac, not too mention taking notes on some of the modern automatic cvt scooters.

Practice days were held on the Saturday of the weekend, with official racing on Sunday. Each scooter had to pass a pre-race safety inspection by race officials, and riders were required to wear appropriate safety gear. Most chose one-piece racing leathers. Racers were also required to pay the associated racing fees depending on the racing facility. Learn more about Rules & FAQs at the Oregon Superbikers page.

Racing was held at one of two area tracks; Pat's Acres Rcaing Complex, located in Canby, Oregon, or the "MAC" track located in McMinnvile, Oregon. Both courses offered their own challenges to the bikes and racers alike.

We also had some great support from the fine people at Heidenau tires and the tuning pro's at 226 Vintage.

Look for more information about the upcoming 2010 PNWSRA Season and feel free to contact us should you wish to see about getting your scooter prepped for racing.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and generosity towards Steve's recovery. They are greatly appreciated. Late in 2008, Steve was released from a local care facility and is now living with friends and an onsite caregiver. He is continuing his physical therapy program and is getting around pretty well with the use of a cane.

After many years of wrenching on area scoots out of a small, but humble garage, Ptown Scooters opened its' doors in the summer of 2000 in the industrial section of NW near the Fremont Bridge. Later in 2003, a building sale required a temporary relocation to N. Portland along the Interstate MAX line. Happily, our current space was ready for us in early 2005. Our Division St. neighbors include Stumptown Coffee, Pix Patisserie and The Hedge House.

Stop-by, say hello and see our new digs!
