Ptown Scooters helps to sponsor Matthew "Drat" Diestler's
2008 Race Season!

2008
will be Drat's first year racing. He's been an instructor and marshall for Ducati
Moto Corsa's track days for almost 4 years now. Drat feels his involvement with
his motorcycle club (who are now the owners of some of the best aftermarket parts
for Ducatis www.speedymoto.com) and his
buddies over at Moto Corsa will give him a racer's edge this upcoming season.
Drat's very first races will be in the novice class. As he completes those, he
will graduate into the expert class and hopes to compete in the Twins Super Sport,
possibly the Twins Super Bike and maybe also race in the 750 Superbike class.
For new racers to PIR, this is really a formality, but it's still a part of the
process and friends of the shop like Juaning Higgins, Kat Foster and Scott Elder,
have all had to go down this road for racing their vintage Honda CB 160's.
Starting on dirt bikes, Drat has been riding motorcycles since he was just 10
years old! Through his step-father, a manager of a Kawasaki-Honda dealership,
he's been fortunate to be around bikes all through his youth.
Drat's scooter background begins of course with the Wussies.
He also has strong ties with Victor Boris and Seattle's vintage scooter shop,
Big People Scooters, and helped
to train Ptown Scooter's founder, Patrick Fitzgibbons, and get him started in
the business when Drat operated former Portland shop, Bridgetown Scooters, for
almost 4 years.
Drat was also one of the first riding enthusiasts to forge ties between the Portland
motorcycle and scooter community in the 1990's when he worked for local racing
legend, Gene "Doc" Brown, by bringing scooters to the track at Italian
Days and other club events.
While he was finishing his tattoo apprentiship, Drat was also an employee of the
local Ducati dealership, Moto Corsa, and
continues his friendship with the brand and shop still to this day and works for
them at the race track during thier track days.
For
2008, Drat will be racing a 2006 Ducati 999R.
